Where were you born? I was born at home, in Amsterdam.
Do you have children? I have 2 grown children,. My son enjoyed staying in my belly a bit too much and was born at 42 weeks after labor was induced in the Dijklander Hospital.
My daughter was born very rapidly at home, almost without my colleague midwife there.
Where and when did you graduate? I graduated in 1993 in Amsterdam.
Why did you become a midwife? Because I think it’s beautiful that you are intensively involved with a family for a short period of time. In the mean time I have already guided the pregnancies of mothers where I was present when they themselves were born. “My Grandma Generation.”
Every day I can enjoy the contact with the pregnant women and the ones giving birth. I also think it is great to go out in the middle of the night to support a the women and their partners during labor. The silence of the night gives a very special atmosphere. Then when you drive home early in the morning and the world comes to life, you think, you guys should know what a special moment I experienced last night.
Since do when do you work at Eva van Hoorn? I have been working at Eva van Hoorn from the launch in 2007, I have been working as a midwife in Hoorn since 1993.
Do you have any specializations within Eva van Hoorn? Within Eva van Hoorn I work as an office manager, I take care of human resources and I am committed to our own kraamzorg organisation.
What do you think is the strength of Eva van Hoorn? Our strength is that we provide accessible care. The quality of our care is very important to us, which is why we have a lot of consultations with each other, including with the gynaecologists of the Dijklander hospital, our neighbours.
What makes you happy? It makes me happy when I have a healthy baby in my hands again with proud and content parents. It makes me happy to come up with improvements in our obstetric care in order to be able to provide even better care that is tailored to the client. And the most important thing that makes me happy is working with my sweet, pleasant and professional colleagues.
What do you prefer to do in your free time? In my time of I like to go for a run, spinning class or yoga. Next to that I like to cook together with my daughter. Going to the theater is also one of my hobbies.
