Where were you born? I was born in Nieuwkoop, during a nice and speedy delivery at home.
Do you have children? We have 2 children.
Where did you give birth? The first time I gave birth in the hospital because our daughter was a little stubborn and laid in a breeched position. The second time around I gave birth at home in a bath.
Where and when did you graduate? I graduated in 2010 in Amsterdam.
Why did you become a midwife? As the youngest of the nieces and nephews, there were regularly pregnant women in the family, I was fascinated by that. I also really liked the tv-programs such as ‘de bevalling en de kraamkliniek’, then I knew it: I would become a midwife.
Since when do you work at Eva van Hoorn? I joined the team at Eva van Hoorn in 2011.
Do you have any specializations within Eva van Hoorn? I place IUD’s and I organize the rental of our birthing baths.
What do you think is the strength of Eva van Hoorn? Our strength is the diversity we have in our team, which is why we have a lot of knowledge and experience.
What makes you happy? My job makes me happy when I drive home in the middle of the night, knowing that something beautiful has just happened. I have just seen a beautiful baby being born, but also the birth of powerful parents. And the rest of the world doesn’t really know anything yet.
Outside of work I especially enjoy moments of happiness with the people around me. And these days, our son and daughter’s hugs with smiles are very high on my list.
What do you prefer to do in your free time? Of course cuddling with our children! And doing lots of fun things with family and friends. In addition, I never get bored in my free time, because I also like to be creative.
