Where were you born? In the Elisabeth hospital in TIlburg
Do you have children? No, first I’ll see how you are handling it
Where would you, one day, like to give birth? I hope to be able to give birth at home
Where and when did you graduate? I received my degree as a midwife in juli 2016, in Amsterdam
Do you have any specializations within Eva van Hoorn? I have been a version expert since 2020. This means that I am trained to turn babies in mom’s belly from breech position to cephalic position.
Why did you become a midwife/ultrasound technician? My grandmother still claims that when I was 8 years old I wrote in friends’ books that I wanted to become a midwife. I don’t think I can blame her. I have been fascinated by the process of pregnancy and birth since childhood. That you can guide women and their partner in this seemed so cool to me! To this day I have not regretted it. And although after my midwifery training I shouted very loudly that I wanted some rest, I apparently couldn’t resist taking up some more specializations. I think ultrasound is a really nice addition to my profession. And then since this year also being allowed to be a version expert completes the picture nicely. It’s really cool when you get an unborn baby to turn with your hands to a nice position.
Since when do you work at Eva van Hoorn? I joined the Eva van Hoorn team in january 2018
What do you think is the strength of Eva van Hoorn? The complete package. We have a big team. Which might seem daunting. But this ensures that we can provide support in all facets of the pregnancy and that someone is almost always available to answer a question.
What makes you happy? To be honest, I really enjoy a beautiful birth the most! Even if it’s in the middle of the night. But another nice aspect of our work is the fact that you can often reassure new parents or newly pregnant women with their insecurities and questions with a short telephone conversation. Besides my work, the beach and the sea make me happy.
What do you prefer to do in your free time? When I’m free I like to sing in my choir: Broadway, go out to dinner with friends, walk on the beach and I like a nice dance party.
