Where were you born? I was born in 1967 in Voorschoten and have lived in West-Friesland for over 50 years now.
Als a real doll mom I knew at a very young age that I wanted to work with babies. So in 1985 I followed an education at the Omring to become a kraamverzorgende (maternity nurse). I worked there for 8 years and shared many joys and tears with new parents. After the birth of our second child I stopped as a kraamverzorgende and started working in the family business. In 2008 I joined the team at Eva van Hoorn as an assistant and I still enjoy my work here very much.
Do you have children? We have 4 children, 1 son and 3 daughters.
Where did you give birth? They were all born at home. The oldest 2 under the guidance of the general practitioner and the youngest 2 under guidance of the midwife Lia Dudink, who is now ultrasound technician at Eva van Hoorn.
What do you enjoy most about being an assistant? The best part of my job is the variety in the work; phoning people, administration, making appointments (sometimes quite a challenge) and having contact with people of different backgrounds and cultures.
What do you think is the strength of Eva van Hoorn? That we have all our maternity care under one roof, where the pregnant woman and her partner are central.
What makes you happy? When clients go home happy, and they let you know they feel heard. It is very nice to hear from former clients: “I do miss the visits to Eva van Hoorn”. And of course from my family, how beautiful it is that you see your children grow up into beautiful, social, independent and happy adults.
What do you prefer to do in your free time? In my free time I like to be creative, in and around the house and I enjoy going on a walk.
