Where were you born? At home in Bovenkarspel
Do you have children? We have 4 children, 2 sons and 2 daughters.
Where did you give birth? The first 2 were born at home, both 2 weeks after my due date. The youngest two really didn’t want to come at 42 weeks, so those deliveries were induced in the Dijklander Hospital.
Where and when did you graduate? In Amsterdam in 1985
Why did you become a midwife? Working with all kinds of different people is wonderful. And then being able to experience and accompany that very special part in someone’s life (pregnancy, giving birth, maternity period) is, and remains very special.
Since when do you work at Eva van Hoorn? I’ve worked at Eva van Hoorn since the start and since 1987 I’ve worked as a midwife in Hoorn.
Do you have any specializations within Eva van Hoorn? I have my diploma in doing external versions.
What do you think is the strength of Eva van Hoorn? Very nice and experienced colleagues, good mutual cooperation, short lines of communication. Everyone wants to commit themselves 100% to provide the best possible care.
What makes you happy? Nice and pleasant communication with people. Respectful communication and having the time and energy for someone els. And furthermore: the seasons, nature, doing activities together with family or friends.
What do you prefer to do in your free time? I like to do some gardening, going on a nice cycling trip, reading a good book, skiing, of taking a hike in the mountains. And also spending quality time with my family after diner.
