Where were you born? On March 11th 1976 I was born in the hospital in Hoorn. Ten minutes after my twin sister. My parents and the gynaecologist only ‘discovered’ me after my mother was already 28 weeks pregnant through an X-ray of her belly! Unthinkable in this day and age of ultrasounds! But still a good story!
Do you have children? I am married to the nicest ambulance driver in West Friesland and together we have 2 boys, Ties and Kes.
Where did you give birth? The first time I gave birth in 2006 in the AMC hospital to Ties because he came 10 weeks early. Kes was born in 2009 with 38 weeks in the Dijklander Hospital.
Where and when did you graduate? After studying orthopedagogy, I ended up in the Dijklander Hospital in 1999. There I worked as a doctor’s assistant in the emergency room, the X-ray department and rheumatology. After that I ended up at the gynaecology outpatient department, I started in 2004 as an ultrasound technician. First for the gynaecologists in the Dijklander Hospital and in my own practice. For several years now I’ve worked only at the Eva van Hoorn practice where we do all the ultrasounds for the obstetricians and gynaecologists.
Why did you become an ultrasound technician? Ultrasound technician is the most beautiful profession there is! Being allowed to show new life and share in all the emotions that go with it. Beautiful!
Since when do you work at Eva van Hoorn? Since 2013.
What makes you happy? If I’m not at work, I’m busy with ‘mothering’. I love being outside but I also enjoy a good book, a night of Netflix or a fun night with drinks, bites, and friends. That’s what makes me happy.
Running and pilates only make me happy after I’ve done it.
My workday was a succes if everybody walked out of my room with a happy and content feeling with peace of mind.
