Evelien Tromp-Schipper

Ultrasound technician

Where were you born?
I was born at home, in Spierdijk, under the supervision of the local general practitioner. At the time that was very normal. I was the middle child of three. My mothers pregnancy was quite unusual. They were expecting twins, but after the delivery had started, they found out that it was only one child! I can’t imagine this anymore in our time now where ultrasounds have taken an important place in pregnancy!

Do you have kids?
Yes, we have three children: Rosa (2012), David (2013) & Samuel (2017).

Where did you give birth?
All my three deliveries took place in a birthing bath, in Den Helder where I used to work before.

Where and when did you graduate?
I graduated as an ultrasound technician in 2016, in Haarlem. If finished my degree in midwifery in 2008, in Hasselt & Antwerp.

Why did you become a midwife & ultrasound technician?
As a midwife you can support and guide a (future) family in a very important and vulnerable period. Contributing to this as a midwife as well as an ultrasound technician is very special to me. I think the most special thing about the ultrasounds is the intimate moment in which you visually introduce future parents to their baby.

When did you start working at Eva van Hoorn?
Since November 2021.

What do you think is the strength of Eva van Hoorn?
That we offer al our maternity care under one name/roof, but still offer a personal and pleasant experience.

What makes you happy?
I can still be genuinely happy about the amazement of future parent(s) when they see their child on the ultrasound.

What do you prefer to do in your free time?
Not planning anything in advance and think of what we feel like at the moment!
